Two cold January days in New York
New York is probably something most people think of very often and many had visited it at least once in their life time. The beauty of visiting New York is that no matter how many times you go, it always seems you’ve never been there before. To my experience, Paris is the other city bringing such feelings..
Here is the short statement from Wikipedia: New York City comprises 5 boroughs sitting where the Hudson River meets the Atlantic Ocean. At its core is Manhattan, a densely–populated borough that’s among the world’s major commercial, financial and cultural centers. Its iconic sites include skyscrapers such as the Empire State Building and sprawling Central Park. Broadway theater is staged in neon–lit Times Square.
Brooklyn Bridge
The bridge was opened to the public on May 24, 1883, connecting Manhattan with Brooklyn for the first time. A rooster made the first trip accross the bridge.
The Brooklyn bridge was the world’s first steel wire suspension bridge. Twentyone elephants walked across the Brooklyn bridge in 1984.
At least 20 people died during the bgride’s construction. Compartments in the bridge beneath its anchorages, were used for storing wine.
One World Trade Center
One World Trade Center is the main building of the rebuilt World Trade Center complex in Lower Manhattan, New York City. It is the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, and the sixth–tallest in the world. The total height of new WTC reaches 541 meters, or 1,776 feet, a tribute to 1776, the year of U.S. independence. Taking heed of every structural and safety failure of the Twin Towers, developers carefully designed the new tower to be the safest office building in the world.
SkyPod Elevators climb 102 stories in 47 seconds. This astonishing ride reveals the transformation of New York City from unsettled lands to today’s remarkable forest of skyscrapers.
Times Square
Times Square is a major commercial intersection and neighborhood in the Midtown Manhattan section of New York City at the junction of Broadway and Seventh Avenue that also stretches from West 42nd to West 47th Streets.
♦ Times Square’s name has nothing to do with time
♦ Times Square is one of the world’s most visited places (360.000 visitors per day)
♦ Times Square’s NASDAQ sign is the largest LED sign in the world.
Central Park
The park’s plant species are so various and amaze us every time with their beauty. It’s a real green heaven in the heart of one of the world’s biggest metropolises. Central Park is created in such a way that it looks like a genuine natural spot created by mother nature herself.
That would be all from New York. Thank you for watching!
